History

The Foundation was started by filmmakers Don and Julianne King who created the movie Beautiful Son, a personal story of their family’s journey to find help and healing for their son Beau –www.beautifulson.com in 2007. They established Hawaii Autism Foundation as a non-profit, 501c(3) with the help of a group of local parents who shared a vision to help families access treatments for children with autism in Hawaii. With autism affecting 1 in 68 children, finding solutions is an urgent priority. Children in Hawaii have a particularly difficult time accessing treatments due to geographic isolation and costs.
